The Needlework Designers of Canada - History
The Needlework Designers of Canada was founded on December
1996 in Saskatoon, based on an idea put forward by Lynne Hermanson. The
goals of our group are to encourage new designers by sharing information,
and to help both new and established designers promote their work. We
have a newsletter that links our members even though we are spread out
across Canada.
Anyone who owns a needlework business in Canada may become
a member of the Needlework Designers of Canada. If you are interested
in becoming a member call Dorothy Gilchrist at (306)373-8056.
Our members talents include designing a wide variety of
needlework types, including Battenburg Lace, cross stitch, petit point,
and hardanger, as well as hand-dyed fabrics.
Many of our members can be found at larger needlework shows,
both in booths and teaching classes!
Follow the links on Members
page to see the wonderful designs created right here in Canada.
Over the years, various members have joined together to
create Group Projects. To date we have
three Ornament Collections and a Canada Sampler, a uniquely Canadian design
where each bands was created by a different designer!
Watch for a new group project coming soon!
