X's & Oh's is a needlework company that began with cross-stitch, and has since branched out into counted needlepoint and hardanger!

Designer Joanne Gatenby is the owner and operator, ably supported by her husband Bill and their family. Their goal is to bring new and original designs to market, and to that end Joanne has been working with artists for many years, licensing their work to convert to cross-stitch along with her own artwork - to the delight of both their fans!

Bill is an active participant in the company, creating and maintaining the website, as well as designing such stitchng accessories as the STITCHING STANDS (Big Bertha and Travelin' Gertie - named by their daughters) and MAGNETIC WOOD (view a short movie about this great accessory on the homepage)!

However, over the past couple of years Joanne has been approached by several independent designers, and has agreed to expand the company by publishing designs not created by herself. In order to accomodate this, it quickly became apparent that 2 releases a month were not going to be enough, and so in January, 2009, X's & Oh's began releasing THREE designs per month.

And since she wasn't nearly busy enough, Joanne is also a frequent contributor to magazines (such as The Cross Stitcher), and since 2008 has been a feature contributor to A NEEDLE PULLING THREAD, providing designs in every issue!
